The Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed all the Inspector Generals of Police to apprehend the absconders and proclaimed offenders and submit a monthly report to the court. The court passed these orders during the proceedings in a bail application. On a query, the law officer informed the court there were 28,569 proclaimed offenders and 22,715 court absconders in the province of Punjab.

The court, taking serious note of the delinquency of the police, observed the police should make serious efforts to apprehend the absconders.

The court directed all the Inspector Generals of Police to prepare the list of absconders and apprehend them immediately. The court also directed them to submit monthly report to the court.
